This is how I make blinkie blocks
In this tutorial I will show you how to make blinkie blocks and animate them. If you have Jasc Animation Shop, you don’t have to draw it in Paint Shop first. Just go to Animation and open a new file, whatever size you want. If you don’t have Paint Shop you can use Adobe or MS Paint. What’s important here is the GIF animator. You can look for a free GIF animator — pick one that doesn’t install three extra toolbars.
I’m going to make an 11×11 pixel. We have different kinds of blocks. This one is the plain boring one:
Don’t you just like it to look beveled? Like this:
I’m using 4 different shades for the beveled effect:
Now you have to paste it together. Copy-paste, depending on how many letters you want to put there. I’m going to make mine 4 blocks, for ROSE:
After you put it all together, draw a letter, or you can use a bitmap font:
When you’re done, open your animation and copy and paste it four times, or more, depending on the effect you want. In this tutorial I’ll just show you the basic blinking text.
A moving GIF is a flipbook. Each copy you paste is one frame — one still picture. If all four frames look the same, nothing blinks. Change some frames (letters on, letters off, letters on, letters off). About 10–20/100 of a second per frame. Save as GIF.
Here’s the finished product. You can make a lot with this. Just be creative.
